Menstruation is normal and a healthy part of life and yet girls and women in India go through extreme struggles to manage their period every month. A large chuck of the Indian population believes this natural cycle to be a ‘curse’, ‘impure’ and ‘dirty’ among other things, courtesy of the ancient myths surrounding menstruation in our country.
Menstruation and menstrual practices are still clouded by taboos and socio-cultural restrictions resulting in adolescent girls remaining ignorant of the scientific facts and hygienic health practices, which sometimes result into adverse health outcomes.
Sex education plays a critical role in developing an individual’s personality & helps them make better decisions adopting a rational frame of mind instead of relying on their impulse. Lack of sex education and healthy discussion around sexual activities is one of India’s main concerns that we are still failing to take adequate actions for. An advanced sex education program would bring about various positive changes and directly result in a decrease in the number of sexual assault cases.
Contraceptive measures and protection helps avoid unwanted pregnancy & STDs. Yet, lakhs of people in the country stay away from them because of the taboo and lack of knowledge.

Over 33 lakh children in India malnourished, 17.7 lakh of them severely malnourished: Govt data
Also, India has slipped to the 101st position in the Global Hunger Index (GHI) 2021 of 116 countries, from its 2020 position of 94th and is behind its neighbours Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal..
Malnutrition amongst children under the age of five is a doorway to a life landmarked with cognitive and physical setbacks. With words like ‘consumerism’ and ‘food surplus’ headlining the world today, high levels of malnutrition shine light on the harsh truth of inequality, lack of access and poverty that continue to affect the lives of millions around the globe.
Up until the age of five, proper nutrition is key in establishing a healthy foundation for one’s life course. The reality that India is confronted with is a sad irony- despite being the second-largest food producer in the world, malnutrition, especially amongst children, remains a large roadblock in the country’s journey forward.
India's economic growth in recent decades has co-existed with alarming levels of chronic hunger and stunting. The country ranked 94th among 107 countries in the Global Hunger Index 2020, way behind many other developing countries. Now, new data suggest that child malnutrition might be worsening—fewer children in India are dying, but those who survive are more malnourished and anaemic in many states.
